In March of this year, PubMed released an update with lots of new features. Research4Life users can now access a new version of PubMed that makes it easier to navigate the full-text biomedical database and discover top-ranked literature from MEDLINE, life science journals and books.

The new interface allows researchers to access PubMed from any device, whether a laptop or mobile. Additionally, if you have an existing account, your searches and collections will be automatically saved and displayed on the new site.

We are pleased to announce a free webinar on 22 July 2020 at 2pm CET for all users who want to learn how they can access PubMed through Research4Life and find the content they need. The webinar will be led by Kathy Kwan, Independent Health Information specialist and retired staff scientist from the US National library of medicine.

This webinar will discuss:

  • What is in the PubMed database
  • Using the enhanced interface
  • Searching on PubMed
  • Accessing full-text articles through Research4Life and other sources
  • Personalizing PubMed with My NCBI and tips for users

How to access PubMed through Research4Life
Login to Hinari from the Research4Life login page, click “Databases for Discovery” from the Hinari homepage, and select PubMed from the list of databases. You will be directed to the new PubMed, where you can begin your search.

You will notice the Research4Life logo in your search results. Occasionally, Research4Life may not have the full text of a citation and the message “No holdings were found for this journal” will be displayed. In those cases, please consult with your librarian to find alternative ways to access the document.

To learn more about the new features, PubMed has a number of resources available to everyone: from online classes to user guides, as well as a trainer’s toolkit with instructional materials such as presentations and recordings to use yourself or to train others.
