Register now for the first Research4Life Spanish MOOC on health e-resources
The first edition of the health e-resources-focused Spanish Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) will run from 24 October to 20 November 2022.
Research4Life users can now register for the four-week virtual MOOC targeted at Spanish-speaking health practitioners, policymakers, and researchers – particularly those working on COVID-19 response elements to enable these users to develop or enhance their skills in targeting information discovery in the health field. The MOOC will be offered to eligible Research4Life countries in the region of the Americas (Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela) and Equatorial Guinea (coast of West Africa). Other Spanish speakers from Research4Life-eligible countries are also welcome.
The course will focus on access to health-related information although the lessons will be useful to participants from other disciplines.
The MOOC will run from 24 October to 20 November 2022. Interested candidates can apply until 9 October. Successful applicants will be informed by 19 October 2022.
The course will cover topics related to scholarly communication and Research4Life, discovery and re-use of scholarly literature; collection-specific browsing and searching, additional discipline-specific resources, dissemination of research output and advocacy, and capacity development strategies. Additionally, the course provides information tailored to users of the Research4Life Hinari collection.
The course comprises recorded lessons, live webinars, weekly exercises, and a forum for peer-to-peer discussions and the trainers. Participants are expected to spend on average six to eight hours per week on lessons and activities. Candidates who complete the course and final exam will receive a certificate. The course is organized in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), Information Training & Outreach Centre for Africa (ITOCA) and Librarians Without Borders.
